I made this little puller long before the days of cheap imported tools from China. A proper puller like a Sykes Pickavant would have been far beyond my means on an apprentice wage at the time.

Easily made from a piece of half inch thick steel plate, and used with my pinion flange holding tool shown in my article “tools – pinion flange holding tool”.

I have a couple of these pinion flanges that have been pulled out of shape by what appears to have been a three legged puller, and have seen others in the spares shed with similar damage.

I always use this puller in preference to the three legged pullers I now have, and have never damaged one to date.
